Mrs. Danuta Pikor was born in 1964 in Trzebus village. Her parents were running a three hectares farm, where they kept one cow and several pigs. Danuta and her siblings were helping their parents on the farm. Although they were working with diligence and devotion, doing their best, they always suffered poverty. Danuta was really determined to change her life and she finished collage to find better job in town. She succeeded and moved out to work for insurance institution in Rzeszow. In 1985, she got married and became a happy mother of two daughters. Due to maternity leave, she gave up her job and was not accepted back later on when she could continue her professional development. This was very difficult time for the family particularly that the company her husband was working for found itself in danger of collapse.
Constant uncertainty and fear about the future of the children made Danuta come back to her village when her father died and passed the farm to her in his last will. The farm was neglected and it required a lot of investments, but Danua and her family decided to try. Thanks to savings and assistance of other family members they managed to modernize a cowshed, adding watering point to it. This was a great achievement of the family, but left it without a penny to be able to purchase quality animals to start their dairy production. Exactly at that moment Danuta learned about HPI project, which was to be realized in the region and immediately applied for participation in it.
In 2004 Danuta become one of the lucky persons supported by HPI. She received two beautiful heifers and additional assistance in a form supplements as well as hygienic means necessary to keep her milk collecting chamber in proper condition. When one of her heifers had to undergo a vet. treatment (after calving), she was helped by the group to cover the expenses. Danuta really appreciated that and realized that being a member of a group gave her a precious feeling of safety, which she had been looking for her whole life.
Danuta is very glad for HPI assistance. She has perfect cows in her barn, which give a proper quantity of milk, and their young heifers, which are growing perfectly well. Looking at them Danuta is becoming more and more optimistic about future of her family. She would like to increase her herd and to enlarge her farm in the nearest future. While doing that she will always remember HPI project that made it possible for her to come back to her roots and to succeed.
