History
Heifer International was founded in the USA by Dan West in 1944. His simple idea of giving to families farm animals renewable source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for more than 60 years.
In 1992 Heifer Project International started its activities in Central and Eastern Europe opening regional office in Warsaw. The program was set to empower the farmers to develop their small integrated farms.
In 1998 the Heifer Project International separate office for Poland was opened. Its aim is to help the neediest farmers through offering them the gift of animals and knowledge on how to provide each other with mutual support.
