Horse agro tourism helps the farmers of Miedzylesie region

This project will assist the farmers who live in the community of Miedzylesie, which is located in southwestern Poland in the region of Klodzko. The farms in this area are small and not profitable, yet they are operated in an environment friendly way. To support the families? budgets, local farmers try to take advantage of beauty of the region and provide services to the tourists. In order to be competitive, they need to offer special attractions to the visitors. Horse riding in summer and sleigh riding in winter would work perfectly for that. HPI would like to assist their plans through providing 15 local families with 15 mares of Hucul horse breed during five years of the project duration. Moreover, farmers will be provided with 2 stallions of the same breed. Another 30 families will join the project through passing on the gift. It is very important that project will also contribute to preserve local breed of Hucul horses, which are so suitable for mountain areas.

The project will be managed by the Agricultural Producers? Group of Miedzylesie community, which was formed in June 1998 and officially registered with the court. The main goal of this group is to improve families? income through introducing the best agricultural practices into their farms and developing agro-tourism activities. HPI has been cooperating with this group for four years, since it serves as project holder for our Simmental cattle project implemented in the region of Klodzko. The Agricultural Producers? Group has proved to be reliable and responsible partner.
