Draft Horses for Dołhobrody No. 27-0657-01
Dolhobrody village is located in the eastern part of Poland, very close to the Polish border with Byelorussia (Belarus). This is very poor region of the country and jobs opportunities are very limited there. Agricultural production, therefore, is a main source of income for the inhabitants. Extensive agriculture exercised on the small farms provides minimal income. Additionally, low prices of agricultural products make it very difficult for the farmers to satisfy the basic needs of their families. Therefore, they can not afford to buy equipment nor draft animals to be used for the field work.
To ease the situation, HPI will provide 18 draft pregnant mares to the 18 families, included into project activities These horses will be used for transportation purposes as well as for work in the fields and meadows.
The project participants will be also provided with trainings in horse breeding, ecology, farming management etc. They will be encourage to transform their farms into organic ones in the future.
The project will be managed by Socio-Educational Association of Dołhobrody.
