Meat Cattle Production in Nowy Dwor Community
No. 27- 0656- 01

Nowy Dwor area is a typical agricultural community with a high percentage of meadows, pastures and forests. It is located in northeastern Poland, in the region recognized as ecologically clean, which is called "Green Lungs of Poland". The area does not have any industry and uses traditional extensive methods of farming. The large acreage of grassland (including lying fallow meadows) favors cattle breeding. Development of milk production, however, would require modernization of the farms and is too costly for the small scale farmers. Thus, starting meat cattle breeding would be the best long term solution for the local farmers' sustainability. The French Limousine breed fits very well with the current conditions in the community and perfectly meets the expectation of local farmers. Fifteen farm families will be provided with one limousine heifer and another 15 families will receive HPI heifers' as Passing on the Gift.

This project will be managed by the Association for Community Development "Choruzowceâ".
