Polish Red Cattle Supports Development of Lipsk Community Farms
No. 27- 0655- 01

This project is to be conducted for the poor farmers of Lipsk community, which is located in northeastern Poland. The region is famous for its forest reserves and beautiful lakes. It is recognized as one of the cleanest regions of the country, called "The Green Lungs of Poland".

Twelve farmers of this region will each receive 2 Polish Red heifers, which is an indigenous cattle breed that was popular in this area years ago. Another 24 farm families will be included into the project through passing on gift.

Milk produced by Polish Red Cattle is very good quality milk. It will be used by the farm families for self-supply and any surplus will be processed to produce different types of cheese. Milk products will be sold at the local market or to tourists who are visiting this beautiful part of the country.

Improvement of the families' income will stay in harmony with environment protection due to proper use of marshy meadows that are close to Biebrza National Park.

The project is managed by the "Workshop of Living Architecture"(WLA) association.
