Development of Swine Breeding in the Communities of Pustków

This project will address the needs of the farmers, living in six villages of Pustków community, which is situated in the central part of Podkarpackie Province.

Inhabitants of Pustków community in 80% are involved in agricultural activities. Their farms, however, are small and their average size is only 3 ha of land. They are run predominantly in a traditional way and do not provide for sufficient income for the families. The development of swine breeding and meat production will improve economic and social status of poor farm families from this region. In the framework of the project, 25 selected farmers will be provided with 50 sows and 2 boars of Landrace breed. The number of households participating in the project will multiply each year due to POG fulfillment. During implementation of the project, 100 sows of high genetic value will be passed on to at least 50 more families. Moreover, all of the project participants will get additional support in a form of fodder supplements for the received livestock as well as training sessions on pig husbandry and breeding. Environment protection issues will always be incorporated into training for the farmers.

The project will be managed by the Association of the Farmers called "Integration", which is located in the village of Pustków.
