Horses Help Farmers to be Self Sufficient
No. 27-0651-01

The Milicz Community is located in the western part of Poland (the Lower Silesia), which is a very agricultural and economically depressed region. Industry has not been developed there, since most of the land has been protected by the landscape park's laws. The only potential income for local inhabitants is to be involved in farming. Currently, due to low prices of agricultural products, it is very difficult for the farmers to satisfy the basic needs of their families. HPI will provide each of the thirteen families of Milicz with one multipurpose pregnant mare. The horses will be used for the field work as well as for making additional income by providing services to the forest as well as by providing carriage and seed rides around the landscape park to the tourists.

This project will be managed by the association of local farmers called "Corral". Its members belong to 3 villages of the Milicz community and they have been helping each other for years
