Development of Hen's Breeding in the Area of a Scenic Park No. 27-0638-01-1
Brzezówka village in the southeast part of Poland in Podkarpacie region falls inside the boundaries of a scenic park where agricultural activities are limited. As a result agricultural production in there is conducted in a traditional way and respects the rules of the environment protection. Extensive agriculture exercised on the small farms (2 hectares of land) provide for minimum income for the families. It is also impossible for them to make additional income outside agriculture, since there are not enough employment opportunities in this region. HPI project of small-scale-chicken-breeding can help families of the village to improve their financial situation through selling eggs on the local market. It has been initiated by the village women and is directed to those of them who bring up their children alone, receive social aid and whose husbands are unemployed and have no rights to get any unemployment benefits.
During the first two years each of 30 families will receive 20 hens. The number of households participating in the project will grow each year through passing on the gift.
