Supporting Organic Farmers of Stary Dzikow Community

Stary Dzikow is a village located in the south east of Poland in Podkarpacie region. The group of the farmers of Stary Dzików came together to introduce organic farming into their community. Their region is very suitable for this kind of production due to unspoiled environment, clean air, large areas of pastures and natural meadows. They have managed to develop successfully strawberries production on their small pieces of land and have been trying to include healthy milk and milk products into their sale offer. To support them with development of their organic farming, HPI will provide 20 farm families with 20 heifers of Polish Red breed.

Polish Red cattle will improve quantity and quality of milk production on the farms and will contribute to development of home made organic milk products.

Farmers will use only natural fertilizer (manure) and use various seeds of grass species to enrich their soils and pastures. Each member of the Association will use a liquid manure removal tank for pasture fertilization, which has been purchased for the group's use with financial share of the farmers.

The project will be managed by the Association of Organic Farmers "Strawberry".
