Awards

• In 2004 Heifer International in the USA has received one of the most prestigious prize - The Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize. This award is given to an organization, anywhere in the world, judged to have made extraordinary contributions toward alleviating human suffering - often operating at great risk, hardship or personal sacrifice.



• Farmers, included into projects activities, have received many Heifer International awards (Golden Talent Award, Wild Award, Passing on the Gift Award). These awards are given annually to one family, individual or group of farmers per country who has shown great achievement in taking a minimum of resources, converting it into a sustaining source of income, while at the same time helping other families and their community. Award winners in Poland in the years of 1996 - 2006 were as follows: Lech Kosiorek, Józefa Majcher, Związek Hodowców Bydła Simentalskiego, Manfred Zaborowski, Wiesława Luczak, Nina i Józef Hasiuk, Andrzej Marcinek, Lucyna Czesanko, Stowarzyszenie Rozwoju i Wspierania Przedsiębiorczości Gminy Ryglice, Renata Kozdęba, Stanisława Rudnicka, Lech Lewandowski, Piotr Puchalski.



• Animals that were given to the farmers as part of the HPI projects in Poland, often had been national or regional champions in many breeding animals exhibitions. The most spectacular success was achieved in 2004 by the HPI Simmental Cow that received a title of Super Champion (read more).

The Regional Exhibition of Simmental Cattle is held in Rudawka Rymanowska. In 2004 it was of a particular importance and there were two reasons for that. First of all, it was held under auspicious of the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Wojciech Olejniczak, who attended it and personally presented the breeders with the awards. Secondly, the animals were judged by Mr. Richard Pichler, who is a head of the European Federation of the Simmental Breeders, so the evaluation of the presented animals was fully professional and independent.

Taking into account the prestige of this exhibition HPI Poland was particularly proud that HPI cow called ZAJDA owned by Mr. Zdzislaw Jakubowski from the village of Nadolany received SUPER CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD during that event ! This beautiful animal was recognized as absolutely the best one out of 50 Simmental cows presented during the exhibition. It was really spectacular achievement of HPI farmer. Having only seven Simmental cows in his barn he won competition with huge breeding stations and scientific institutes that had got 300 heads of Simmental cattle in their barns to select from for the exhibition.

Additionally, HPI Simmental Cows competed in each of 5 categories and in 4 of them they received very high prizes. In means that in addition to Mr. Jakubowski 4 other HPI farmers received Vice - Championships.
